Knicks PG's making the point...

Okay Knick Fans, it is only 5 games into the season, but we have to admit there has been noticeable improvement in the game play. But what is most notable is where the solid play is coming from.

Point guard has been the most maligned and criticized position on the Knickerbockers since the 2-headed monster of Charlie Ward & Chris Childs and before that the tandem of Glann "Doc" Rivers and Derrick Harper.

Since those days the Knicks have been seeking a marquee point guard to lead them. There has been talk of Chris Paul (New Orleans), Tony Parker(San Antonio) and even an aging Steve Nash (Phoenix) to sure up this position.

With the Lebron watch this summer, the maneuvers by NY seemed pretty lackluster. But in actuality, pretty shrewd.

The Knicks signed NC Tar Heel alumni Raymond Felton to a one-year deal to make it happen in NY. What a steal. He is averaging career highs in points (16.2) and assists (7.4). They also decided to give current 2nd year Knick Toney Douglas a real shot at playing year. After playing sparingly in his rookie year, he is averaging 16.2 point per game off the bench. He will get 6th man of the year consideration this year if this continues. The duo combined are averaging 32 points, 9.8 assists and 4 steals a game. Both are tough defenders and only turn it over 4 times per game. Most NBA teams can't boast of that kind of production.

Derrick Rose of Chicago, Paul and Parker, Deron Williams of Utah, Rajon Rondo of Boston are the absolute headliners, but the Knick combo of Felton-Douglas are definitely making the grade.

NY is getting premier production for a much lower price. Kudos to NY.

The Deep 6...

The NBA has arguably the greatest athletes in the world. Great individual performers, teams and great coaches. Who's the best? Whose game transcends the eras? What franchises have gotten it right...and which one's are clueless?

What is the Deep 6? The Deep 6 is a collection of players through the history of a franchise that would be the choice to play in a tournament. Likely the greatest players in the history of that team...yet teams with numerous hall of famers will have tougher cuts to make.

The criteria is not strict, but I request that the selected players have more than 3 years with their prospective. In some cases, that might prove impossible due to expansion teams and general mediocrity. Also, lets try not to use the same players over & over...but there are definite exceptions.

This is a statement through my research, quarrels and sheer gut feelings on who makes the cut. I am absolutely positive that someone of great prowess will be left out. I apologize in advance! But...this is it.
